Is there a reasonable priced remote that can "really" control all my home theater components? I have a Yamaha amplifier/tuner, a pioneer 300 disc CD player, a Tivo (first generation) DVR, 47" Samsung HDTV, Sansui DVD/VCR Player, Comcast digital Cable Box (Motorola?) and a Microsoft Media Center Receiver. I've tried several "do all" remotes but there is always something that it won't control. I know there are real expensive (Sony? at $300 to $500) remotes but I think that just too much for a "do all" remote.
Is it ok to mix 220v and 110v home theater components?? For example, I have a 110v power amp and I plug-it in to a 220v pre-amp...what would happen. Of course both will be plugged-in to their proper outlets on the wall. I have both separate 110v and 220v outlets in one room.
How to hook up my new flat panel and other components to my home theater.? I have a new lcd tv with 4 hdmi inputs but only one audio output (optical). Can I hook all of my components (xbox, playstation, satellite box) to the tv via hdmi and then use the 1 optical audio out to route the audio through my home theater surround sound (which only has the 1 audio in - optical). Then I guess just mute the tv. I would test this but the tv hasn't arrived yet and i want to get the in-wall cabling done ahead of time.

So any help/advice on these would be very appreciated.

Where is the best place to purchase home theater equipment? I am looking into purchasing some home theater components in the next month, and I am curious as to what store(s) have the best selection, service, and price. Please keep in mind that some stories are subsidiaries of other stores (such as Future Shop is a Subsidiary of Best Buy).
Connecting Home Theater Components Using Component Cables? I am looking into buying a SONY Home Theater System HT-7200DH. This set has a receiver with multiple inputs/outputs: 1 Digital Media Port Input (Rear), 6 Analog Audio Inputs (1 Front/5 Rear), 2 Analog Audio Outputs (Rear), 1 Coaxial Audio Digital Input (Rear), 3 Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr) Inputs (Rear), 2 Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr) Outputs (Rear), 4 Composite Video Inputs (3 Rear/1 Front), 3 Composite Video Outputs (Rear), 1 Headphone Input (Rear), 2 Optical Audio Inputs (Rear), 3 HDMI Connection Inputs (Rear), 1 HDMI Connection Output (Rear), 1 Coaxial Audio Digital Output (Rear), 1 Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr) Output (Rear), 1 Composite Video Output (Rear), 1 HDMI Connection Output (Rear), 1 Optical Audio Output (Rear), 1 S-Video Output (Rear), and 1 Analog Audio Output (Rear) I will be using the component outputs/inputs because my TV does not have any HDMI ports meaning I will not be able to use the HDMI functionality with this system right??? I want to connect my Xbox 360, and Blu-Ray Player to this. Im not 100% sure on how to do this but from what I understand you connect all of your component cables Xbox to Receiver and Blu-Ray to Receiver. Then you run one component cable out to the TV and you can switch between the Xbox and the Blu-Ray player using only 1 component cable to the TV. Or is that only with HDMI? Let me know how I can connect these things if HDMI is not available because my TV does not have HDMI. My TV has 2 Component Video Inputs.
Best way to hook up lots of video components to a home theater? Hi, I have tons of gear (ps3, xbox, wii, dvd player, sat. receiver, vhs, and who knows what else in the future) my reciever only has a few inputs some (Yamaha). My question to those of you with high end home theaters is how to hook up all of this gear. Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking of connecting everything to one unit and have one dvi or hdmi connection coming out of that unit. So I would need something to upconvert the signal.

Electrician wired 220V to my Home theater system. Can components be repaired? TV, HT Reciever, DVD, and old X-box supplied 220V by overzealous electricians. Is it just a matter of replacing the power supplies? Or will repairs be more than equipment is worth? Most components were 5 yrs. old or older. TV, HT Reciever, DVD, and old X-box supplied 220V by overzealous electricians. Is it just a matter of replacing the power supplies? Or will repairs be more than equipment is worth? Most components were 5 yrs. old or older. They did wire 220V to a normal 110V outlet. They've already paid replacement cost for the equipment, and rectified the problem. Just wondered if the compents could be salvaged, hated to just toss them.

Home theater components good picks? I am thinking 1. apple tv 2. LG BD370 blu ray player 3. Mitsubishi HC3800 1080p Home Theater DLP Projector 4. Onkyo TX-SR507 reciever 5. 5.1 Polk Audio Monitor series(I know not detailed but I like the speakers) So really my questions are do you think this system will work? What do I need to purchase to connect all my home theater components? I have a DVD player with 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer, a dish network reciever, a wii, a xbox, a xbox 360, a vcr, a apple tv reciever and a playstation 3. I would also like to hook up my computer to the TV. What do I need to buy that has enough inputs to receive all these components and that would allow me to have surround sound for all of them? Currently I only have one component that uses an HD cable, the rest are all the three prong type. I'm not sure what I would have to have to hook up the computer. Lastly I can't afford anything in the thousands but several hundred would be doable. Thanks The TV is an 42" plasma (hitachi) The DVD player is a Panasonic (5 disk changer HDMI) model SA-PT950

How can I hook up spare computer case fans to a wall outlet to cool my home theater equipment? I have a bunch of spare computer case cooling fans (120mm) that I want to use to cool some of my hot home theater components in an entertainment wall buildin. Going to specific HT cooling sites, the fans did not look much different than the ones used in a computer, but they cost a lot more and were capable of being hooked up to wall outlets (using some type of adapter, transformer, etc.) Can I use an old computer power supply? Does it need some type of jumper? Is there some type of transformer/adapter that I can plug into? Thanks

The receiver/dvd player of my Samsung home theater system broke (HT-TQ85)(5.1, HDMI)(hooked up to a nice Samsung DLP TV) - What can I buy to replace it so that I don't waste the speakers? How can i fix sound lag in a home theater system? I hooked up a home theater system (surround sound) to my television. My problem is with the sound from the cable box. I have one HDMI cable from the cable box to the television (which has 2 speakers on it) and a Red/White Component Audio going to the home-theater base. When i turn on the television and the surround speakers at the same time im getting about a half second delay in the sound out of the surround speakers compared to the sound out of the television speakers. How should i resolve this?
How do I go about buying a home theater system piecemeal? Which components do I buy first? I have a Vizio VW32 I can't afford to buy an entire System right off the bat but i would like to buy the components that are the best value. I want to get the most use out of the components that I buy so I want to know if I should just buy two satelite speakers first or should i get the two front speakers first. Or is there any advantage to buying the reciever first. As far as brands go I was looking at Onkyo. I am open to other brands. I would like to eventually have 7.1 when i am done.
Home Theater? I am trying to hook-up a home theatre using older components and a new Harman Kardon AVR. Please Help. The components I have are as follows: CD, DVD player, VCR, digital cable box, JVC older tv, The issue I'm having is with the cable. How is this hooked up with the cable box, the tv and the vcr. This AVR requires on-screen set-up to get the speakers all balanced. I just can't get the on-line coming up and also have to hook the DVD directly to the tv to get a picture there. I don't know what I have done but I've been thoroughly confused with the book of a manual that came with the AVR. Basically, I thought I just ran everything into the AVR and then connected the tv to monitor out on the AVR. This didn't work. So far I have talked to 3 customer service reps and nobody has been able to give me the right set-up. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Connecting Component Subs to Home Theater Reciever? I have two Kenwood KFC-W3012 subs. They run at 4ohms and i would like to know if i could hook them up to my home receiver for a while. I think the reciever runs at 8ohms so i could wire them in series and end up with an 8ohm load. but i have heard that you need to convert from AC to DC or vise versa. My main question is whether or not i could just hook them straight to the receiver and have them work fine?

What are the top brands of the home theater systems on the market? I am not talking about home theater - in -a box (pre-boxed) systems like sony or panasonic that are usually under $500. I am talking about the ones you usually put all the components together yourself. I have zero knowledge as to who makes the best home theaters systems. It would great if you list down several brands and top websites that sell them.
How do you plug a PC into a home theater? I have both a Realtek HD Audio and a SoundBlaster Audigy SE, and am trying to connect to my Home theater (5.1) setup. Problem: This only supports Component Audio (standard RCA), and only supports 2 cables for the surround (left/right). Where is this "converter" I hear of to take PC surround to normal TV surround? The connections are as such: 1 cable for front, 1 for rear, and 1 for center/subwoofer. Each cable is stereo analog. Trying to convert it all to standard component cable for a 5.1 channel A/V amp (not PC amp). There is no setting for Dolby through just one port.
Sony Component Home Theater System HT-DDW790 wire length? I have recently purchased a new HDTV and decided that it was time to upgrade our home theater system. At this time, I'm not looking to spend much at all since the TV was already expensive enough. I have settled on the above mentioned HT-DDW790. I know it is far from the perfect system but its price is very attractive. My only concern is that that surround speaker wires will not be long enough (they come already pre-attached so their length cannot be changed). The room I plan to use them in is about 16X18 ft. I was wondering can someone who owns one of these are simply knows, exactly how long are the rear surround speaker wires? Additionally, if you have any comment/advice about my situation or decision I would be more than grateful. Thanks! The problem I heard with splicing is that is will greatly reduce the audio quality. That is why I would wish to say away from that if possible.
How can I connect an HDTV, and Xbox, a Home Theater in a Box, and a HD Digital cable Box? I have an Olevia 37 LCD TV, a regular Xbox, an Emerson Home Theater, and a Motorola HD DVR cable Box. How can I connect them or where can I find a connection diagram, that tells me how. I have an HDMI cable, an A/V Component (for audio and video) and A/V Composite cables. I would like it that everything can run thru my home theater speakers. Note that the home theater is also a dvd player and has two composite in, one out, and only one components out.
How do I use my home theater to play all audio from the HDTV? I have a home theater (with DVD player) and a cable recorder box connected to my HDTV. The home theater is on HDMI-1 and the cable box is connected to Component-2 (video and audio). How do I use my home theater speakers to play the audio when I'm watching cable TV through component-2? What additional wiring connections do I need to make? My cable recorder box also has a HMDI connection capability.

Can I hook a new DVD player up to my home theater? I bought an "all in one" Panasonic home theater system (ie receiver, stereo and DVD are all one unit, not separate components) 5 years ago. Recently the DVD player refuses to play certain commercial disks I get from Netflix or Best Buy--it simply refuses to "spin" and says "Disc Error--No Play." The only fix I've been able to discover is that if I play an older movie in its entirety, after the older movie is over, the player will SOMETIMES load the newer movie (Its bizarre--its like the DVD player needs to "warm up" on the older disks first). I've tried a disc cleaner to no avail. Anyone have a solution? Alternatively, since the audio still works great (if I can get a disc to actually play), I was wondering if I could buy a new DVD player and somehow connect it to the current home theater system so I still have surround sound without having to buy a whole new system. Is this possible or do I have to buy a whole new system?
