I need help setting up a home theater audio system.? I bought a Panasonic Up-converting dvd player and surround sound all in one. Personally I don't like this and I would like to set up a customized home audio system. What receiver, speakers, subwoofer, dvd/bluray player, should I invest in? I know it would be great to have the top of the line on everything as well, but I'm also on a budget. Any advice is appreciated!
Why does the volume jump on my home theater audio? I installed 2 speakers using 25' runs of 16 gauge speaker wire. Research leads me to believe that 16 gauge wire should be able to handle this. Now the audio jumps uncontrollably based on what is being heard (voices/music/sound effects). The set-up works fine using 12 ga. and a shorter run. Is the wire the problem or could I be doing something wrong?
What is the difference between 5.1 and 2.1 audio Home Theater Systems? What is the difference between 5.1 and 2.1 audio Home Theater Systems? I'm thinking about gettin surround sound for my room and want to get the best quality sound without unnecessary extras like radio, mp3 plug in, etc. The only times it will be used are for movies, T.V. and video games. what should I get? 5.1 or 2.1?
Home Theater audio clicks when any electric device is changed, lights, appliances, etc. Why? How to fix? My house was built in 1973. Previous owners wired the living room for surround (poorly). For example, if the surround sound is on for a DVD and you turn on a light in the kitchen, the audio system sound cycles, coming back on normally within about 2-3 seconds. Turning on the lights or even the AC system coming on will cause this. Is there something in the wiring of the house causing this? Can I put some electrical buffering device between the audio unit and the outlet to keep this from happening? Currently it is only plugged into a simple surge protector. Any thoughts?

Home Theater Audio Help? I'm getting ready to start setting up my home theater this week, I'm just waiting for some cables to arrive. But I'm a little confused about hooking up audio cables. I'll have PS3 and XBOX 360 connected via HDMI and the receiver passes both audio and video over HDMI so that isn't a problem. My problem is I'll have my FIOS cable box hooked into my TV via HDMI in the 2nd input, the first going to the the A/V receiver. So I'll need to use coaxial cables for surround sound audio, since the PS2 and Region Free DVD player will take up the 2 optical audio inputs. Basically will there be a problem with audio since I've got HDMI going to the TV and audio going to the receiver? This is my first major set-up, so I'm in need of some help.

Need Help selecting home audio/ home theater system/ parts? I need some help. I am on a bit of a tight budget (as in, WAY under $1000, more like under $500). Within the next few months, I plan on building/purchasing a whole home audio setup. Things I need: +Receiver +Speakers +Sub +DVD Player (optional) I will use it primarily for my Xbox 360, but also A LOT for listening to my music (both mp3 and CDs), and a lot of movies. Can anyone help recommend a couple of things (I plan to use eBay A LOT to help out). Also, if anyone wants to recommended some Home Theater In A Box setups, that's cool too. Just remember, I want the best bang for my (small) buck. Thanks a bunch
Best way to get audio from TV/Blu Ray to home theater system? My tv has left and right audio outs, don't think that's good. Has coaxial out, don't know anything about that. The blu ray player and the satellite box have optical out, which I don't know much about. The home theater has optical in, right and left in, and coaxial in. Which is best for a home theater system that has 6 speakers and a subwoofer?
Can I buy any audio reciever for my home theater speakers? I currently own a Sony DAV-DX155 home theater system and am looking into buying another receiver for this unit. Can I keep the speakers i have (that are wired into the walls) and just buy any new receiver (or maybe just a sony)? I need another receiver so I can enjoy full digital 5.1 surround sound with the devices I own. One extra thing, how do i hook up the sub woofer that i have on the unit? All the receivers I looked at had no + and - output for the sub woofer.
Can you recommend a 2.1 channel home theatre audio system? I am looking to purchase a 2.1 channel home audio system to be used with my HD TV. My price range is under $350. Most "Home Theatre in a Box" systems that I find are 5.1 or 7.1 systems and I am not interested in these due to limitations in the room that I am installing this sytem. I will probably only use this system for TV audio and I already have a upconverting DVD player so I do not necessarily need a system with a DVD player. Thanks!! I would prefer that it is not a Bose system or any that use a Radio Frequency (RF) remote because I want to use this sytem with a universal remote.

The home theater has these as the input from the tv: (Note: the one on the bottom, the Red and white input) http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a327/Hi_Ho/AudioConnections.jpg My equipment: ~42" Plasma Magnivox TV ~RCA Home theater (RT2770) Can anyone tell me how to hook this up, I have tried my local radio shack and got a cable that I rigged to fit both ends but nothing comes through. Are audio wires different then any old wire? Thanks in advance, Dan.
which audio connection should i use with a Home Theater system? should i use the regular analog audio connection or the optical digital audio when connecting it to the TV? note: i have an optical connection on my hdtv and one on the Home theater I just purchased. I also have the basic analog connections. I haven't purchased the cables yet. thanks! i guess what i'm asking is if I'll hear a difference. Help, my brother has recently given me his RT2360B RCA Home theater Audio Visual receiver, I have no idea? I have an Adiovox LCD TV, Philips DVD player, VCR with PVR from cable co. Explorer 8300. I would like to hook these up with s/video. I have tried to set it up so I can run everything through the receiver. I have A feeling I'm doing something wrong via the DVD. It only has a s/video out. If I don't (instructions via another internet site) conect the s/video to the receiver, how are all the components suposed to get video from the cable,DVD,PVR etc. nothing goes to the moniter except the s/video in from the cable box. If anyone can help me with a step by step on how to set this all up s/video, I would be so greatful. I won't imbarase myself in telling you how long I've been at this. I would like to avoid doing the "red, white and yellow wire" route. Bob
what receiver should i buy? For a home theatre and home audio system? I have all the wires in my house run for the speakers throughout the walls. I want the receiver to be located in the kitchen. I want to be able to control the home theatre(tv) and the home audio all from the kitchen. Must be able to shut off home theatre and listen to home audio or vice versa. Thank you!
I'm looking for a home theater system that plays more than 1 audio cd (maybe 5), any suggestions? I have been to Best Buy and they have nothing surprisingly. I need a new DVD player so I figured I would combine all of it together in a home theater system that I can also have a multi disk audio cd player in it as well but I can't find anything that is a reasonable price - or anything at all actually that fits my specifications. Any suggestions - please include a website link as well. Thank you.
Need Good Home Theater Audio Setup? I am looking for advice on surround sound setup for a home theater. Never had one before, but it's time. I have a Sharp 42" 720p LCD and a Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD Player. The picture quality is fine, but the built in speakers on the TV aren't the best and are the only thing that pulls the setup down. I'd like a good surround sound setup as cheap as possible (I'm still a college student, after all), but that works fine as well and won't be completely out of place with the rest of my equipment...However, I don't know anything about them. What kind of jacks should I look for? The TV has all kinds (component, HDMI, etc) and the HD DVD Player does HDMI as well. I use HDMI for that setup, and component for xbox 360 / wii. What's the best way to get all this (or at least a couple) through the surround sound? I prefer one without a dvd player as I have a good one, but also prefer to buy a package that includes speakers and keep costs down (around $200 would be ideal). Any recommendation? I actually do have an old Aiwa 5.1 receiver that I got one year for a birthday (not sure why - I never got speakers). How important is the receiver as opposed to speakers? Would I do well if I just got a speaker package? I'm not sure how to make all the connections. It is an Aiwa AV-D57. I got it before all this digital video came out, so it doesn't even have component in. The only digital it has is optical audio and coaxial audio inputs - one of each. Would I be able to work with this to keep the good picture and get surround sound?
What audio home theater I should get? Hello everyone, I could use some help with my next descision. My living room is about 20 x 15 and I want to put a decent audio home theater there. I already got the TV and the Blue-Ray DVD player. I was wondering for about 2000-2500 what is the best set I can get? Or, is it better for me to buy the amplifier speakers and subwoofer separately? What would be cheaper / better? Moreover, if buying the it by parts is better, can you reccomend what Amplifier / speakers and subwoofer I should get? All responses and advice are appreciated. I forgot to mention that the setups main purpose would be 99.95 movies, out of which 99% would probably be Blue-Ray movies. Also, after reading some reviews I decided to increase my budget a bit. What would be the best setup for speakers alone for under 2,500? So far I have considered 4 x JBL L890 front and rear 1 x JBL LC2 Central 1X JBL L830 (pair) 1 x JBL ES250PBK Any other suggestions? May be something that has a better value of price/performance? Also, which of these 3 recievers would be better? 1) Harman Kardon AVR 3550HD 2) Onkyo TX-SR806 3) Denon AVR-2809CI Is the HK too weak of an amplifier? Thx for all suggestions.
Home Theater audio setup? My regular channels have a great full sound. However when I switch to HD channels my sound only comes from the center channel. Anyone ever seen this?? any suggestions?? if you need more info just contact me
Home Theater Setup Audio? My brother recently bought a Sharp 32" LCD TV and already owned a Phillips HTS3544/37 Home Theater System. I have all the speakers set up and the video of this composite audio/video cables connected to Input 2 of the tv (which the video will soon be replace with an hdmi cable). I have the two red and white audio cables plugged into the TV Audio In ports of the home theater base to the Audio Out ports on the back of the TV. I can get audio through the 5.1 speakers when the source is from the home theater system but when I watch tv or play on the 360 that is connected to Input 1 of the TV, the audio comes out of the TV speakers. How do I fix this? i think i tried the tv mode but ill try that again. i looked around in the setup for the tv and i found nothing of selecting internal or external. ill check again
Home theater/audio suggestion, please? Budget <$500. Desire to watch TV/movies in surround sound and play music via iPod, CD, radio both inside and outside (room already pre-wired for outdoor speakers). Currently have old iPod shuffle, but hope to upgrade to new iPod Nano soon. Wireless speakers a plus. So I believe I need a true receiver (like Onkyo), for the audio out for the outdoor speakers, but I also don't want to buy something that will be outdated in a couple years (i.e. one w/o HDMI?). Would be great to be able to listen to music inside and outside at same time (A/B switch?). Not an audioholic, but appreciate good value. Any suggestions on a system?
Is it possible to rig a professional audio mixer to a home theater system? As stated above, I'm wondering if its possible. I have an old 5.1 channel dvd player, and have multiple speakers hooked up to each channel. I have about 13 speakers connected currently and one sub. It will be around 20 or so, plus 2 massive PA speakers/subs. I was wondering if I could hook up the speakers to a mixer or something so I could adjust single channel volume and sound. Or if theres a reciever out there that can do this, and has enough room at the speaker outputs for 3+ speakers to be connected to each.
PS3 No Audio with HDMI through Home Theater? PS3 is connected to TV with HDMI, sound from PS3 comes out of the TV, but not from Bose Home Theater when speakers of TV are turned off. The Home Theater does sound when watching TV, there is a Optical hooked from audio out in the tv to the home theater optical audio in. If I select Optical in the PS3 Sound Settings the sound goes totally away (from TV speakers, and does never sound anyways in the Bose System). Strange thing is that if I connect the PS3 with the A/V conventional (red, white, yellow), I can see the image and hear the sound through the BOSE sound system and the TV, after having selected that setting in the PS3 Sound Settings, video quality is poor though.
Cant see video on my HT-Z510 Home Theater system. Audio is fine. Help!!!? I have a Samsung HT-Z510 home theater system. My tv is fairly old and I have a DTV receiver hooked up to it. The surround sound system is hooked up to the receiver. We watch tv and movies off the receiver with the system working fine. However, I cannot get the menu to come up on the screen when we turn on the dvd player. We can hear the audio fine, but no picture. I know that my tv has 2 tuners and was told that 1 of them is no good. Is this the cause and what can I do to resolve it. Short of buying another tv. Please help.
