Is it ok to mix 220v and 110v home theater components??

For example, I have a 110v power amp and I plug-it in to a 220v pre-amp...what would happen. Of course both will be plugged-in to their proper outlets on the wall. I have both separate 110v and 220v outlets in one room.

  1. So long as you hook your components to their proper voltage sources you should be just fine since all signal level outputs are low voltage anyway.
  2. The ONLY real problem you might have is the possibility of HUM being passed from unit to unit....especially the units with the 3 prong grounding on them.... So I suggest using the 3 prong to 2 prong adaptors on your 110 units with 3 wire AC cords.....
